Boeing Joins Forces with Translation App, Gives Voice to Refugees

Boeing recently partnered with the translation app Tarjimly to globally increase translation access for refugees and immigrants.

The app-based language and translation service instantly connects refugees and humanitarians with global volunteer translators in 120+ languages. The app (the world’s most accessible translation service) eliminates language barriers to give immigrants and refugees access to support services, helping to alleviate and/or prevent instances of isolation, abuse and systemic poverty.

Employees of the leading global aerospace company can now volunteer as translators or interpreters by participating in a Tarjimly-led training curriculum. This joint effort is making a positive difference, according to Boeing’s Executive Vice President of Government Operations Ziad Ojakli.

“Equitable access to information is a key human right, and Tarjimly is an easy-to-use, free and easily accessible tool that aims to help millions of refugees and immigrants around the world get the information they need quickly,” said Ojakli. “We are proud to support Tarjimly in its mission to break down language barriers for those who are seeking humanitarian aid, and we are excited about this innovative partnership and the opportunity to extend various translating opportunities to Boeing employees all around the world.”

This isn’t the first time the app has been deemed worthy of support by an esteemed organization. The Massachusetts Institute for Technology’s Solve initiative recently honored Tarjimly with both the AI for Humanity Prize and the Elevate Prize.

“Language shouldn’t be a reason for denial of service,” said Atif Javed, Tarjimly’s executive director. “At Tarjimly, we believe it’s a human right to be heard and understood. We are excited to partner with the Boeing community to democratize language access for displaced persons globally.”
