A national human resources organization recently named a Kansas City diversity leader as a finalist for its annual awards.
HRO Today honored Emanuel McCrainey — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City’s (Blue KC) Department Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Talent — as a finalist for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Executive of the Year at the First Annual Inclusion Awards presented at the HRO Today Inclusion Summit in Atlanta, GA.
A judging panel determines the finalists based on nominees’ commitment to inclusivity in the workplace, brand strengthening and employee engagement and retention. HR and other business leaders also were recognized at the event.
“The fact that Emanuel was recognized for his DEI leadership is a testament to his drive, passion and commitment,” said Erin Stucky, President and CEO of Blue KC. “Blue KC strives to be a diverse and equitable workplace, and Emanuel personifies everything we want our company and our employees to be. We celebrate his nomination for this prestigious award.”
Attendees at the event heard stories from diversity advocates adopting systemic, business-led approaches to DEI. Featured speakers highlighted bold interventions that create long-lasting inclusive cultures.
“Being nominated alongside the fantastic individuals represented at the Diversity Awards was such an honor,” said McCrainey. “Blue KC is part of a growing number of organizations prioritizing diversity, equity and inclusion at every level of their corporate structure. Focused DEI programs aren’t only a social responsibility, but they also have a positive impact on the bottom line. I’m proud to play a small part in the larger picture we all hope to achieve.”
