Sporting Kansas City recently signed a five-year partnership with Tequila Don Neron – its first ever tequila partner.
The tequila maker’s products will be available in Sporting Kansas City-branded bottles at the Major League Soccer club’s home stadium, Children’s Mercy Park, in the summer of 2023, according to a news release.
The club’s new official tequila is aged in white oak barrels from 100% Blue Weber Agave, with a line of flavors including Silver Pink Tequila, Reposado Black Tequila, Silver Tequila and Reposado Tequila.
Founded in 2018, Tequila Don Neron produces high-end tequila according to the company’s website: “Our process starts with the highest quality Blue Weber agaves grown in the iron rich soil of Jalisco, Mexico. Once harvested, we use the traditional process of “jimar” to meticulously cut the agave plants, leaving only the heart of the plant. Next, we cook the agaves for 72 hours and extract the juices.”
A charter member of Major League Soccer, Sporting Kansas City is a two-time MLS Cup champion and four-time winner of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Led by Manager Peter Vermes, the team’s 2023 campaign will be highlighted by the debut of the reimagined Leagues Cup – featuring all of the clubs from MLS and Liga MX in a month-long tournament – as well as a 34-match regular season schedule.
