Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) policy holders recently reelected three board members as well as one new member to the health insurance company’s board of directors.
Leonard R. Hernandez, Rick C. Jackson, James A. Klausman will serve their third, four-year terms while Garrett T. Love (shown) will replace outgoing board member Kenneth W. Winter on the board.
Winter, general manager at Lariat Feeders, retired from the BKBSKS board in conjunction with the annual meeting. Winter served on the board since 2007.
Love is a farmer and owns Love Land & Cattle, LLC, where he grows sorghum, corn, soybeans, wheat, and raises and feeds cattle in southwest Kansas. He currently sits on the National Sorghum Producers board of directors.
Love served as the state’s youngest state senator in the Kansas State Senate from 2011 to 2017, where he chaired the Senate Ag Committee and sat on the Senate Health Committee. He and his family also operate Western Kansas Pheasant Hunts, a hunting outfitting business that hosts hunters from across the country on their farm.
Hernandez recently retired as president & CEO of Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Jackson is executive vice president, chief lending officer at Capital Federal Savings. Klausman is president and CEO of Midwest Health.
In addition to the election of the BCBSKS board members, Jackson was elected to a one- year term as chair of the BCBSKS board of directors and Megan L. Jones was elected to a one-year term as vice chair.
Jackson joined the BCBSKS board in 2015. Jones, owner and president of Jones Advisory Group, has served on the board since 2016.
Other members of the BCBSKS board include Matthew D. All, Rick D. Baden, Gregory V. Binns, Dr. James H. Gilbaugh, Amanda D. Huelskamp, Jena K. Lysen, Jeff D. Mullen, Jeffrey R. Thompson and Dr. Angela N. Wilson.
