Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. Thursday announced the ratification of a new four-year contract with employee members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).
Kansas business advocates commend the quick full resumption of operations at that the company’s Wichita facility on Wednesday, July 5.
“A strong aerospace and aviation manufacturing sector helps Kansas compete in the global economy and creates jobs not just in Wichita but across the state,” said Kansas Chamber President and CEO Alan Cobb. “The Chamber and Kansas Manufacturing Council applaud Spirit AeroSystems and its employees for resolving this quickly and working to maximize the value it brings to its customers and so many working Kansans.”
In a news release, Spirit AeroSystems President and CEO Tom Gentile said the aerostructures manufacturer’s agreement with union-member employees provides a mutual benefit.
“We listened closely to our employees and brought forward a fair-and-competitive offer,” Gentile said. “With its approval by our IAM-represented employees, we look forward to getting back to the important work of delivering quality products to our customers.”
Gentile said Spirit will coordinate closely with its suppliers and customers, focused on the company’s safety and quality standards, as it restarts production.
