Three state organizations, including one in Kansas, lead the country for their work to raise awareness about manufacturing in their respective states.
The Conference of State Manufacturers Associations (COSMA) recently recognized the Kansas Manufacturing Council, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) and Oregon Business & Industry as finalists for the association’s 2023 Leadership Award. WMC on Wednesday received the award for its work to attract and maintain the manufacturing workforce.
The Leadership Award recognizes the achievement of a state manufacturing association that has developed impactful initiatives to support manufacturers and strengthen manufacturing in its state.
“It’s an honor for the Kansas Manufacturing Council to be among the three finalists for the 2023 Leadership Award,” said Kansas Chamber President & CEO Alan Cobb. “The KMC exists to serve its members, representing small and large manufacturers across Kansas. This was well-deserved recognition for the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce’s phenomenal efforts. Like the KMC, it’s working diligently to create a more prosperous manufacturing sector in its state.”
COSMA members are official state partners of the National Association of Manufacturers. The associations work to advance manufacturers’ priorities on state issues, mobilize local communities, and help move federal policy from the ground up in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Members work with state legislators and regulators to advocate for policies that support manufacturing. They also provide education and training to manufacturers and help them connect with resources and partners.
“The work of WMC to inspire the workforce of the future is a prime example of what’s needed to address the critical challenges that our sector faces today,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons in a press release. “Under Kurt Bauer’s leadership, the WMC is advancing the solutions needed to make manufacturers more competitive and ensure manufacturing remains a key driver of Wisconsin’s economy.
Utah Manufacturers Association President & CEO, NAM board member and COSMA Chair Todd Bingham also shared congratulations for the recognition of WMC’s exceptional work educating future manufacturing workers in Wisconsin and empowering business engagement throughout the state.
“Their work shows the impact that we can all have to help make the United States the top destination in the world for manufacturing investment,” Bingham said in a press release.
Like WMC, the KMC provides unmatched access and information on the key issues affecting businesses and their bottom line throughout Kansas.
Through the Kansas Chamber, the KMC has a powerful voice for the state’s manufacturing community to advocate for a policy agenda that helps manufacturers compete in the global economy and create jobs across Kansas.
