Bell Textron — an aerospace manufacturer with facilities in Wichita — in September announced Boeing as an authorized and endorsed supplier providing Used Serviceable Material (USM) products for Bell 212 and Bell 412 helicopter customers and maintainers.
Boeing said in a press release it will offer a continuous supply of safe, quality and dependable parts supported by its global supply chain network.
“Kansas is a major center for aviation manufacturing and maintenance,” said Kansas Chamber President & CEO Alan Cobb. “Both Bell and Boeing are valued members of the Chamber, and we commend and congratulate them for this agreement. Partnerships like this help strengthen the state’s significant position in the global aviation industry.”
Repaired or overhauled parts are FAA approved and processed through Bell’s Authorized Customer Service Facilities and Bell Authorized Maintenance Centers. Boeing offers USM parts for transactional purchase, or helicopter customers can receive a repaired or overhauled component in exchange for their used core.
“The Bell and Boeing agreement is a significant effort in enhancing our global support to Bell customers around the globe,” said Bell Vice President of Customer Experience Chris Schaefer in a press release. “Bell will utilize Boeing’s advanced ecommerce platform, dynamic distribution model as well as the increased parts availability to ensure our customers have ready and reliable aircraft to complete their missions.”
The agreement allows Bell to expand its rotable pool with USM parts including airframe, main transmission, avionics, main rotor head, main rotor blades, trail rotor blades and gearboxes, supported by Boeing.
“Through this agreement, Boeing is creating one of the most comprehensive, global inventory pools of used helicopter parts in support of Bell customers,” said Boeing Distribution Services Vice President & General Manager Travis Sullivan in a press release. “Bell operators can now easily find the USM parts they need 24-7, through Boeing’s one-stop-shop distribution services business.”
Boeing said managing the recertification of USM parts from aircraft, engines and helicopter platforms helps prevent landfill waste and provides cost-efficient solutions to customers.
