KANSAS CITY, Kan.— Garmin and the University of Kansas Health System rank in the top 10 on the annual Forbes list of 600 of America’s Best Large Employers released this month.
Olathe-based Garmin nabbed the second spot on the list, and was the highest ranked technology company. With nearly 20,000 employees, the company develops navigation and wearable technology for the fitness, outdoor, aviation, marine and automotive markets.

The University of Kansas Health System, based in Kansas City, Kan. landed at the 10th spot. As the teaching hospital for the University of Kansas Medical Center, KU Med has 15,000 employees and 910 beds.
The emergency department at the primary location in Kansas City is the region’s only Level I Trauma Center. Other locations include the University of Kansas Health System St. Francis campus in Topeka, and the University of Kansas Health System Great Bend campus. The system operates as a non-profit.
The Dairy Farmers of America, headquartered in Kansas City, ranked 542 on the list. Structured as a cooperative, it’s more than 18,000 members are owners, of which 11,000 are family farmers around the nation.
