Tour to visit more than 25 manufacturers in 12 cities
The Kansas Manufacturing Council (KMC), in partnership with Kansas Manufacturing Solutions and Kansas Chamber, will host the 2023 Making Kansas Bus Tour to highlight the state’s manufacturing industry and the great career opportunities it offers.
“The Kansas manufacturing industry is responsible for more than 15-percent of our state’s total economic output and employs more than 171,000 Kansans. Still, many in our state do not realize the impact the industry has on their communities”, said KMC Executive Director Brandie McPherson. ”We are excited to visit dozens of manufacturers and showcase the many types of products made in Kansas.”
The 2023 tour will visit more than 25 Kansas manufacturers in 12 cities.
The tour kicks off in celebration of 2023 Mfg Day on Friday, October 6th with stops in Olathe, Lawrence, and Topeka.
The statewide journey then continues October 10th – 12th with stops in Garden City, Montezuma, Dodge City, Salina, McPherson, Wichita, Independence, Neodesha, and Chanute.
“Manufacturing is extremely important to the local communities and state economies of Kansas,” said Kansas Manufacturing Solutions CEO Tiffany Stovall. “The Making Kansas bus tour is an exciting opportunity to celebrate and promote manufacturing and highlight a few of the many manufacturers who are making Kansas.”
Local officials, educators, parents, students, and media interested in riding the bus when the tour is in their communities should contact Sherriene Jones-Sontag at [email protected] for more information.
The tour also will help raise awareness about the 2023 Coolest Thing Made In Kansas contest currently underway and the 2023 Kansas Manufacturing Summit, scheduled for Oct. 23rd and 24th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Wichita.
